June is a month for graduations, and
graduations are a celebration of accomplishment, growth and maturity.
This year
we have several members who have graduated from college and we salute them for
their achievement. Several are also graduating from high school and that, too,
is a great milestone in their lives. Some will graduate from singleness to
marital bliss.
For most this is a wonderful step into joy and fulfillment. All
graduations mark a change in status for us. Change is not always easy but it is
a sign of life and growth. Anything that doesn’t change is usually dead.
II
Peter 3:18 calls us to, ‘Grow in the
grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both
now and forever! Amen.’ Growth and maturity is indeed something to
celebrate and we congratulate all of our graduates this year. But we, too, must
be working toward growing toward maturity.
We may not graduate until the Lord calls us home, but He certainly wants us to live and act as mature believers in Christ Jesus. That means handling our struggles and successes with integrity, and relating with one another with respect, appreciation and compassion. Keep growing!!!
